Japanese Piper Plays in the Rhodopes

American hippies and thousand of foreign and Bulgarian tourists have arrived for the two pipers' competitions which have started in the Rhodopes. Chairman of the Parliament Georgi Pirinski opened the festival in Shiroka Luka, while President Georgi Parvanov is expected to attend the festival in the village of Gela.
Thirty-year-old Japanese Yutaka Ban was the hit of the festival in the picturesque village yesterday. He demonstrated enviable piper's skills and became audience's favourite.
A Scottish band from the village of Newton Hill is the drawing card of the program in Shiroka Luka. For the last ten years the musicians in kilts have conquered the hearts of the audience all over Europe.
Their manager told Standart that he is greatly impressed and excited by the divine combination between formidable landscapes and unique bagpipe sounds. According to him, the Bulgarian pipe is the prototype of this instruments all over the world.
